Athletics: Men's Tennis
Men’s tennis is one of Muhlenberg’s oldest varsity sports, dating back to 1919 and competing in all but two years since. The program had its heydey in the early 1940s, winning 35 of 38 matches from 1940 to 1942 and capturing the Middle Atlantic Conference title in 1942.
The 2000 team brought back memories of those powerful teams, reaching double digits in wins for the first time since 1941 and challenging for the Centennial Conference championship. In the four-year span from 2000 to 2003, the Mules won 37 matches, second in program history only to the 42 won from 1939 to 1942.
Other recent highlights include a 9-4 record in 1989, 8-4 seasons in 1990 and 1992 and a 7-4 ledger in 1998. Muhlenberg had singles players reach the semifinals of the Centennial Conference Tournament in 1998 and 2000, and in both 2000 and 2001 a doubles team made it to the CC final.
