Umbach Named to All-Metro Region Second Team

Stephanie Umbach It didn’t take long for Stephanie Umbach of the Muhlenberg women’s lacrosse team to establish herself as one of the top players not only on the squad but in the entire Centennial Conference.

Now the rookie midfielder has been recognized as one of the best players in the region as well.

She became the first freshman in school history to earn all-region honors after being named to the All-Metro Region second team as selected by the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association. It’s the fourth year in a row Muhlenberg has had a player earn IWLCA all-region honors.

Umbach did a little bit of everything for the Mules, finishing in the top three on the team in goals (3rd, 26), assists (3rd, 12), ground balls (1st, 30), draw controls (1st, 64) and caused turnovers (1st, 25).

She led the conference and ranks 10th amongst Divison III freshmen in caused turnovers per game (1.92) and was third in the CC and 10th nationally amongst freshmen in draw controls per game (4.92).

Umbach finished the year with 64 draw controls, the second-most in a season in school history, including a single-game record 12 against Swarthmore.

She is the 14th all-region selection in school history and one of just five freshmen on the All-Metro squad.
