Kelsey Jones For the third time in her career, sophomore Kelsey Jones of the Muhlenberg softball team was named Centennial Conference pitcher of the week.

Jones tossed complete games in all three of the Mules’ CC wins, going 10 innings in two of them. In 27 innings, she had a 0.78 ERA while striking out 20 and holding opponents to a .220 average.

The tall righty tied the school record for innings pitched in a complete-game shutout (10) against Haverford and outdueled Caroline Brehm, the 2012 CC pitcher of the year, in both ends of a doubleheader sweep of McDaniel. It was the first time in her Muhlenberg career that Jones pitched two complete games on the same day.

For the season, Jones is tied for second in the CC in wins with an 11-1 record and 12 complete games. She is tied for fourth in the league with a 2.33 ERA and is fifth with 73 strikeouts.

Jones’ pitching has helped the Mules to an 18-5-1 record, their best after 24 games since 1991. Muhlenberg is in sole possession of first place in the CC with an 8-2 mark, a game in front of Washington and Gettysburg, who play each other this Saturday, in the loss column.
