Muhlenberg’s top two singles players made their mark on program history with their selection to the All-Centennial Conference tennis team.

Daniel Lakhman Freshman Sara Finger became the first Mule freshman to earn all-conference honors in singles, nabbing a second-team laurel, while junior Daniel Lakhman received honorable mention in singles, becoming the first member of the men’s squad to make the All-CC team since 2003. Both played No. 1 singles for the Mules this season.

Finger battled through injury to script a strong rookie campaign. She finished 5-4 overall in dual matches with a 3-3 mark in the ultracompetitive CC, and finds herself ranked No. 23 in the latest Atlantic South Region poll. Among her most impressive victories were a 6-3, 6-0 result against Franklin & Marshall’s top player, a first-team doubles and second-team singles selection, and a three-set thriller in the deciding match at Dickinson, clinching a playoff berth for the Mules against an opponent ranked right behind her at 24th in the region.

Sara Finger Finger (left) is the fourth freshman in team history to make the all-conference team, and the first in eight years. The three previous rookies all did so in doubles.

The Muhlenberg women finished 8-5 overall in the spring and posted a 7-3 mark in CC play, their best in three years. The Mules earned the fifth seed in the league playoffs, qualifying for the postseason for the first time since 2011.

Lakhman (right) showed tremendous improvement in his second season at the head of the Mules’ lineup. The junior led the team with six singles wins, three of them in conference play, and came on strong as the year went on. Lakhman won five of his last nine matches, all in straight sets, with three of the four losses in that span coming in third sets.

Lakhman will enter his senior season with 35 career victories, tied for the lead among active Mules.
