McCaffrey, Umbach Named to ECAC All-Star Team

Kaitlyn McCaffrey Muhlenberg women’s lacrosse stars Kaitlyn McCaffrey and Stephanie Umbach added to their impressive list of honors when both were named to the ECAC Mid-Atlantic first team.

Previously, both were named to the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association All-Metro Region first team and All-Centennial Conference first team.

McCaffrey, a recent graduate, was named CC defensive player of the year after leading the CC and ranking 17th in Division III in caused turnovers per game (2.65). She broke her own school record with 45 caused turnovers and also led the league in ground balls (58) and finished third on the Mules in draw controls (35).

Stephanie Umbach McCaffrey (right), who also scored two goals on the season, ended her career with 108 caused turnovers, one short of the school record, and 137 ground balls, good for sixth on Muhlenberg’s all-time list.

Umbach, a rising senior, set school records for points (99), goals (88), hat tricks (17) and draw controls (93) in a season. The midfielder also was second on the team in caused turnovers (25) and ground balls (35) and set the school and CC record for draw controls in a game (17 vs. Bryn Mawr).

Umbach (left), who finished second in Division III in both total goals and goals per game, will enter her senior season as the program’s all-time leader in draw controls (234), second all-time in goals (173) and fifth all-time in points (209).
