Corey Goff Corey Goff has been named director of athletics at Muhlenberg College, effective July 1, 2012. He replaces Sam Beidleman, who recently announced his retirement.

As director of athletics, Goff will supervise Muhlenberg’s 22-sport varsity intercollegiate program, as well as the intramural and recreation programs.

“I am both honored by the opportunity to serve Muhlenberg in this capacity and humbled by the outpouring of support from our community that made this appointment possible,” said Goff. “Muhlenberg’s student athletes embody everything that is right about college athletics. Having the chance to work alongside our staff supporting those students in their pursuit of excellence through athletics is a dream come true for me.”

Since June 2003, Goff has served as an assistant director of athletics, and in June 2008 he was promoted to associate director. In that role, he collaborates with Beidleman on policy development and day-to-day operational responsibilities and oversight for the full breadth of the department’s offerings. Goff also served as acting director of athletics for three months in 2006.

Among Goff’s duties as associate director of athletics are developing and maintaining the annual department budget, coordinating athletic competition schedules and overseeing the coordination of team travel. He chaired the search committees that hired Muhlenberg’s current head coaches in four varsity sports as well as the newly created position of assistant to the director of athletics.

enthusiasm and passion for taking the Athletic Department to the next level,” added Karen Green, vice president for student affairs and dean of students.

Goff has served on numerous campus committees since arriving at Muhlenberg in 2000. He currently sits on the Faculty-Staff Development Committee, Administrative Systems Committee, Social Code Hearing and Appeals Board, Crisis Management Team and Campus Safety Advisory Board.

For the past six years, Goff has been head coach of the baseball team, a role he will relinquish following the 2012 season. He led the Mules to a 20-win season and a trip to the Centennial Conference playoffs in 2008 and has coached two all-region selections and a CC player of the year. Muhlenberg has broken or tied more than 30 individual and team records in hitting, pitching and fielding categories since 2007.

From 2000 to 2005, Goff was an assistant football coach at Muhlenberg, serving as offensive coordinator the last five of those seasons. The Mules won four straight CC co-championships from 2001 to 2004, made their first three appearances in the NCAA Division III Tournament and broke numerous school records.

Goff is a 1995 graduate of Susquehanna University, where he was a team captain in baseball and played football. He earned his master’s in educational psychology from the University at Albany in 1997.

Before coming to Muhlenberg, Goff coached football and baseball at Susquehanna (1995-96 school year), Albany (1996-97), Dartmouth College (1997-98), Westminster (Ga.) Schools (1998-99) and Wyoming (Pa.) Seminary (1999-2000).

Goff, 39, and his wife Lauren have two children, Collin (6) and Michael (4).
