Community Service & Civic Engagement
Facts about Service Learning at Muhlenberg

Service-learning or community-based learning combines lessons within the classroom and in community to reinforce knowledge and address community needs and desires. Service-learning courses engage students, faculty and community in mutually beneficial relationships allowing for programs/projects that enhance community and provide students the opportunity for reflection on experiences.
Muhlenberg faculty and community partners teach over 20 courses annually using this pedagogy representing 9 departments, 17 faculty and more than 25 community partners. Opportunities also exist for community-based participatory research and projects.
