NOTE: Instructions for the completion of the AlcoholEdu program are being sent to all first-year students. The program must be completed before you will be allowed to participate in Orientation.

The following schedule is tentative. Times, presenters and programs are subject to change. A final schedule in printed form will be available for you at check-in. You can download a printed copy of the schedule.

First Year Residential Student Move-in & Orientation Check-inmove in line

If you are a residential student, please check-in at the lobby of your assigned residence hall. Student Advisors and volunteers will be available to assist you and your family in moving you in to your room. The Residential Life Staff will also distribute Orientation Weekend materials to you.

Commuting Student Welcome

If you will be commuting from home, you are invited to attend this welcome and information session. The session will help acclimate you to campus and inform you of the many activities and events you should plan to attend during the weekend.

Box lunches are provided without charge for you and your family. Afternoon sessions begin promptly at one o’clock; please say farewells in time to attend the session indicated for you below.

If you have a parent, grandparent or sibling who graduated from Muhlenberg, then congratulations, you are a legacy! Join other new students and their families for a 'Berg legacy luncheon in Miller Forum, Moyer Hall. A photo of legacy families will be taken at 12:30 p.m.

Meet the 2011 Student Advisors

This session introduces you to other students in your seminar group. You will be asked to sign up for a one-on-one individual advising session with your Faculty Advisor, which can occur during several scheduled times set aside during the weekend.

The transition from high school to college is challenging for both students and parents.  While students are in their seminar group meetings, President Helm will welcome and address the parents of the Class of 2015.  Parents Council Co-Chairs Bill and Sharon Crist P'12 will share their perspectives and strategies for both parents and students to make the most of their Muhlenberg experiences.

Welcome and “First Lecture"

You will be welcomed by President Randy Helm, and hear brief remarks from Karen Green, Dean of Students, and Carol Shiner Wilson, Dean of the College for Academic Life. Then, prepare for your first college lecture provided by Jefferson Pooley, Assistant Professor, Media & Communication.

Please return to your hall floor for this important meeting.

A chance to meet your RA and the rest of your fellow residents on the hall! Be welcomed to the floor and learn information about your floor and Muhlenberg to help you settle in for the year.

Meet at the non-classroom location determined by your seminar group at the 1:00 p.m. meeting so that your group may attend dinner together. Your group’s seating time is identified on this table.

Getting Settled

 

Find your classrooms
 
Student advisors will be conducting campus tours, departing from the mailboxes in the lower level of the Seegers Union every 20 minutes. Bring along your class schedule and locate some of your classrooms.

Check your mailbox

Your campus mailbox will serve as an important connection to the College over the next few years. Opening the box can sometimes be a tricky affair. Student advisors will be available at the mailboxes in the lower level of the Seegers Union to assist you in trying out your box combination.

Set up your room

Resident Advisors and Student Advisors will be available to answer questions and assist you if you choose to take this time to continue setting up your living space.

Voter Registration

Welcome to your new home in Allentown, Pennsylvania! Since you will reside at Muhlenberg for nine months out of the year, you may want to consider changing your voter registration status from your home address to your new College address - or registering to vote for the first time! Check out the table in the lower level of Seegers Union to visit students who will assist you in this process or obtain the forms from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Latin for 'calling together', convocation at Muhlenberg is an academic ceremony for incoming students that marks the formal start of their college careers. It is hosted by President Helm, faculty and staff.
