Class of 2004
Senior Associate Editor with Eyecare Business, a trade magazine published by Wolters Kluwer
typical day: A typical day as an editor involves writing copy for the magazine (I handle five columns of the magazine each month, plus write features as needed); editing copy; and performing research duties such as fact-checking and interviews. EB is circulated among eyecare practitioners, many of whom own their own practice, and has a strong business angle. In addition to providing information about owning and operating a business, we also provide information about the latest in eyecare and eyewear, which means attending industry trade shows.

exciting news: I say I am currently with Eyecare Business as I recently gave my resignation to pursue a freelance writing career. Since graduating I have been writing, researching, and editing for other magazines on the side, including Rodale's BestLife, where I got my start. I will be with EB until the end of the year. At the conclusion of my formal editorial position I will stay on as a contributing editor, doing freelance work for this magazine along with a variety of other publications.

insights: As always, I am happy to offer any advice to students who may be choosing the journalism path. After all, advice from former 'berg alum certainly contributed to my own decision to pursue this field.
