Project Manager / TransPerfect Translations

typical day: First, a bit about my company: TransPerfect Translations is one of the world's leading translation service companies. With over 30 offices on 3 continents, we provide a full range of language services in over 100 languages to multinational companies worldwide. As a Project Manager in the Interpretation and Media Services department (NYC), I essentially spend each day coordinating the interpretation and media needs of many of these companies. These media needs include transcriptions, subtitling, and voice-overs. Some of the more notable clients with whom I've liased are AT&T, Fox Entertainment, MSNBC, Porter Novelli, Deutsche Bank, AC Nielsen, Time Warner, and Ogilivy & Mather. I also work extensively with some of the world's leading law firms, including White & Case, Cadwalader Wickersham & Taft, and Howrey Simon Arnold & White. As you can probably imagine, all this keeps me on my toes...but I'm learning so much and I love it!

If you have any other questions about TransPerfect or what I do, please feel free to email me! I'd love to hear from you!

exciting news: Aside from keeping busy with work, I will soon be moving to Hoboken, NJ, with another Communication alum, Shannon Solheim! We just signed a lease for a December 1 move-in. Come visit!

insights: As a student, I certainly felt fortunate to receive such an outstanding liberal arts education, but now I fully appreciate all that that education entails. I am truly equipped for almost any situation with which I am faced...and I know I have Muhlenberg to thank for that.

More specifically, my experience as a Communication major helped prepare me for the "real world" better than I could have imagined. Since my line of work centers around facilitating communication across languages and cultures, I feel all the more closely connected to the comprehensive education I received as a Communication student.
