Media and Communication at
Muhlenberg College

Class of 2004
typical day: I just completed a copywriting internship at T. Rowe Price, Investment Services in Baltimore. As a copywriter, I wrote copy for the Retirement Services in the Creative Department. I spent my days learning about the different retirement options, familiarizing myself with the client brand and brainstorming with talented writers and graphic designers on how we can educate our clientel about retirement options. Our main task was to solve corporate communication problems. While the writing process in an investment firm is often dry and limited in the legality of words used, it is amazing to see the final product when the copy comes together with design. It suddenly tells a beautiful story even if it is about retirement.

exciting news: I am currently in the process of applying to graduate school at the University of Baltimore. I am interested in pursuing copywriting as a career and the University of Baltimore has a fantastic MA program called Publications Design for writers and designers.

insights: I am really excited for what lies ahead of me in my career. And I have to admit something to the Communications Department, which I never thought I would say. When I need inspiration at work whether it be in writing or the actual marketing of a product, I go back to my course books and notes from various writing classes and reread them to brainstorm ideas or inspire my writing.
