PETER SIMONSON
Robert K. Merton's 'Self-Fulfilling Prophecy': An Episode in (Jewish) American Intellectual History.

Peter Simonson is assistant professor in the Department of Communication at the University of Pittsburgh. Simonson is author of many articles on rhetorical theory and the intellectual history of communication research, and editor (with John Durham Peters) of Mass Communication and American Social Thought, 1919-1968. His lecture at Muhlenberg, on Robert Merton's complex relations with Judaism, is part of a book project on the legenday sociologist.
