Flex accounts are similar to a bank debit account. Flex can take the place of cash. The account begins with an opening balance and all purchases are deducted from the remaining balance. Monies may be added as needed during the school year. Unlike a bank debit card, cash cannot be withdrawn against the card. The flex card is a convenience for students so they do not need to keep cash on hand for incidental needs on campus.

Flex may be used to make purchases in the bookstore and may be used in the college’s dining rooms (General Quarters, Java Joe’s, the Garden Room and the Life Sports Center Cafe).

The account is linked to the student ID card. A student will present their ID card when making purchases and request college personnel to charge their flex. The cost of the purchase is deducted from the flex fund balance.

The flex fund balance transfers from year to year and ends at graduation. Students are encouraged to keep minimal balances in their flex account. All funds should be used by May 1 of the student graduation year. The minimum deposit is $25.00. You may start with a minimum deposit in the flex account and review the activity to estimate usage. Additional deposits into the flex account can be made throughout the year. Again cash cannot be withdrawn from this account.

If there is a remaining balance over $25.00 left in the account after the student’s graduation, the individual will receive a refund check for the balance that exceeds $25.00. Balances $25.00 and less that are remaining in the account will be credited to the Class Account. Seniors are encouraged to expend all funds remaining in the flex account. Caps and gowns may be purchased using flex funds.
