ACCOUNTING, BUSINESS AND ECONOMICS
Accounting, Business and Economics - The Accounting, Business, and Economics Department of Muhlenberg College invites applications for a tenure-track position in Economics at the level of Assistant Professor beginning in the Fall of 2010. ABD’s are welcome to apply for appointment at the Instructor level. The Department seeks an excellent teacher with a deep commitment to students in and out of the classroom. The position carries a 3-3 teaching load that includes principles of economics and economics electives. The candidate must also be interested in teaching at least one course in the Department’s Finance Major such as applied finance, corporation finance, derivative markets, investments, or monetary economics. AFRICAN AMERICAN STUDIES
African American Studies -
The African American Studies Program at Muhlenberg College seeks a tenure-track faculty member with specializations in both African American Studies and another social science or humanities discipline. Anticipated rank is Assistant Professor, but exceptional candidates may be considered for appointment at the Associate rank. This will be a joint appointment in African American Studies and one department, such as English, History, Media and Communication, Political Science, Psychology or Sociology and Anthropology. This appointment may also offer affiliation with our American Studies program. In their cover letters, candidates should articulate their understanding of the values and purposes of a liberal arts education. In addition, candidates should speak to their expertise in African American Studies, their curriculum development and teaching experience, and their program of scholarship (and how it informs their teaching). Candidates should also address their ability to advise and mentor undergraduates. Candidates should have a PhD (or advanced A.B.D.). Muhlenberg emphasizes excellent teaching in a student-focused, undergraduate environment. The standard teaching load is three courses each semester. MATHEMATICS AND COMPUTER SCIENCE
Mathematics and Computer Science - The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science of Muhlenberg College seeks to fill a tenure-track position in mathematics at the assistant professor level to begin in the fall of 2010. A Ph.D. in mathematics or statistics is required.
Muhlenberg emphasizes excellent teaching in a student-focused, undergraduate environment. Prior full-time experience is valued. Our department favors a reform approach, with ample use of technology, in both introductory calculus and statistics. The College expects significant professional/scholarly activity, encourages student research, and requires institutional service. Muhlenberg College is a highly-selective, four-year institution of 2,200 students located in Allentown, PA, about 50 miles north of Philadelphia and 90 miles west of Manhattan. Our department has nine tenure-track lines divided between mathematics and computer science. Visiting Assistant Professor – Fall 2010 - The Music Department at Muhlenberg College seeks an outstanding teacher who is a musicologist and is sympathetic to the mission and environment of a liberal arts college for a one year, sabbatical replacement position. Areas of responsibility to include teaching in the Music History Survey, Music Appreciation, historical period courses as determined by the department, and/or music theory. Ph.D. preferred, ABD candidates will be considered.
