The Dean of the College for Academic Life is accepting applications from students seeking to present a scholarly work at conferences, to exhibit, or to perform work previously completed or expected to be completed in the 2007-08 academic year. The project must be authorized by a faculty member, and you should consult with that faculty member about appropriate conference(s) or other venues where you might present or perform.
Please note that there are many venues that might be appropriate for your presentation, including local, regional and national conferences.
Students who are interested in applying should fill out and submit the Student Travel Request Form, which includes guidelines and is available online at www.muhlenberg.edu/mgt/provost/academic/travelform.pdf. You may also request a cover sheet and guidelines from Lori Flatto, third floor of the Haas College Center.
In addition to the completed Student Travel Request Form, please submit to the Dean of the College for Academic Life a typed abstract describing the project. The abstract should normally be the same one you submit to the conference, but it should not exceed 500 words. The language must be clear and precise. You will want to have your faculty sponsor review at least one draft of your abstract.
Please note that funds will be distributed until gone. Recommended deadlines are Dec. 3, 2007 and March 28, 2008.
Depending upon arrangements, you will be expected to take an advance or be reimbursed. Regardless of when you receive funds, you will be expected to present receipts at the end of the process.
Please note: If the project has not yet been accepted by the conference, travel support will be awarded pending acceptance. Typically, Muhlenberg will only support at most one student trip per project, even if you have submitted your work to multiple conferences.
