Web Accessibility Implementation:
Phase I Objectives

A Web content developer or webmaster must satisfy these objectives for web accessibility. Otherwise, one or more groups will find it impossible to access information in the document. Satisfying this checkpoint is a basic requirement for some groups to be able to use Web documents. All campus webmasters MUST ensure that their sites satisfy these objectives. A Web Accessibility Phase I Assessment Test is available online to review overall understanding. Site audits will be conducted throughout the academic year.

  1. Use Clear and Simple Language
  2. Update Alternate Pages
  3. Provide useful hyperlink text
  4. Provide text equivalents for every non-text element
  5. Identify language
  1. Identify Row and Column Headers in data tables
  2. Associate table data and header cells
  3. Provide skip navigation links
  4. Provide alternate Pages
