Senior Dana Ferrelli of the Muhlenberg volleyball team became the program’s all-time leader in digs

at the Carnegie Mellon Tournament, which was held Friday and Saturday.

Ferrelli recorded 37 digs in the four matches, increasing her career total to 1,219 – six more than Kimberly Maurer compiled from 1995-98. Ferrelli broke the record by posting 11 digs against Gettysburg in the tournament finale.

Another highlight of the tournament was senior Meaghan Billie becoming the first player in team history to record 300 kills in each of three seasons. With a team-best 41 kills in four matches, Billie upped her season total to 338. She had 344 in 2000 and 348 last year. Billie has 1,284 career kills and has an outside shot at breaking the school record of 1,336 in the Mules’ two remaining matches.

• Men’s Golf: Muhlenberg finished 13th at the Ocean City Collegiate Classic, held Saturday and Sunday in Ocean City, Md. Freshman Chris Walach and senior Ryan Vogel each shot a 161 over the two rounds, with Walach improving his score by nine strokes from the first round to the second. Click here for box score.

For the second time this season, junior running back Matt Bernardo of the Muhlenberg football team has been named offensive player of the week by the Centennial Conference.

Bernardo rushed for a season-high 179 yards and two touchdowns in the Mules’ 41-0 shutout of Gettysburg. It was his fourth consecutive 100-yard game, and he also went over 2,500 career yards. Bernardo needs 123 more yards to become the program’s all-time leading rusher.

Bernardo leads the CC in rushing (815 yards), kickoff returns (31.9 yards per return), all-purpose yards (1,227) and touchdowns (11).

The defensive player of the week was Chris Gallino of Franklin & Marshall, who recorded 15 tackles, including three sacks, in a 10-6 loss to McDaniel. The Green Terror clinched a share of their sixth straight CC title with the narrow win.

In non-conference games involving CC teams, Dickinson edged Kean, 21-14; Johns Hopkins suffered its second loss in a row, 17-12 at Randolph-Macon; and Ursinus, the next opponent for Muhlenberg, fell to Frostburg State, 35-14. The standings:
