VOLLEYBALL FALLS IN HOME FINALE; MEN’S SOCCER TO FINISH FOURTH

• Volleyball: Ursinus 3, Muhlenberg 2. The Mules (13-21, 5-5) dropped a heartbreaker in their final home match of the season. Muhlenberg took a 2-0 lead after winning the second game, 30-13, but Ursinus (12-15, 5-5) won the final three games by a total of seven points.

Lisa Giammalvo, one of five seniors playing her final home match, had a season-high 17 kills to go along with 12 digs and four of the Mules’ school-record 19 aces. Fellow seniors Meaghan Billie and Dana Ferrelli also reached doubled figures in kills, with 17 and 13, respectively.

• Men’s Soccer: Franklin & Marshall 4, Muhlenberg 2. Franklin & Marshall (8-8, 7-1) broke away from a 1-1 halftime tie with three consecutive goals. The loss means that the Mules (12-7, 5-3) are guaranteed of finishing in fourth place in the Centennial Conference.

Muhlenberg will play the host school, either Johns Hopkins or F&M, in the first round of the CC playoffs next Saturday. Hopkins remained undefeated in the CC with a 6-4 win against Gettysburg.

BRUSCHI TIES SCORING RECORD IN FIELD HOCKEY WIN

Sophomore Kristen Bruschi contributed to all the scoring and tied a 40-year-old school record as the Muhlenberg field hockey team kept its

Pico recorded her first multiple-goal game of the season, and the second of her career, against Haverford. She is second on the team with 17 points.
Centennial Conference playoff hopes alive with a 4-0 shutout of Haverford on the wet Scotty Wood Stadium turf.

Bruschi assisted senior Holly Pico on two first-half goals and scored two herself in the second half. The six points gave her 36 for the season, tying the school record set by Ruth Smith in 1962.

With less than a week remaining in the regular season, the Mules (12-5, 4-3) are in fifth place in the CC, but only a game out of second. Muhlenberg faces an important game against league leader Johns Hopkins at home on Saturday.

The Mules’ 12 wins this season are tied for the second-most in school history.

Senior Josephine Fasolino made four saves against the Fords (5-12, 1-6), increasing her career total to 503. Entering the 2002 season, only 27 goalkeepers in Division III history had 500 saves.
