A weekly look at what’s going on in the Centennial Conference:
Field Hockey
Johns Hopkins edged Franklin & Marshall, 1-0, and is the lone remaining undefeated team in the CC ... Dropping their first CC games of the season during the week were Swarthmore (to Dickinson), Washington (to Muhlenberg) and Gettysburg (to McDaniel). The latter game was McDaniel’s first win against Gettysburg since 1992 ... The Green Terror, ranked 11th, also suffered a 1-0 loss to No. 9 Lynchburg and will host Muhlenberg on Saturday.

Gettysburg scored a big coup for the CC with a 1-0 win against Messiah, which was ranked No. 1 in Division III and had not allowed a goal all season ... The Bullets stayed undefeated with a 2-0 shutout of Haverford ... Washington won its second straight CC game, 5-1 over Ursinus. The Shoremen are the next CC opponent for Muhlenberg.

McDaniel put the first blemishes on the two teams that went into the week with unblemished CC records: The Green Terror defeated Dickinson, 3-1, then tied Franklin & Marshall, 2-2 ... Muhlenberg will move into sole possession of first if it beats Bryn Mawr (Wednesday) and F&M (Friday) in home games this week. The Mules have won 16 straight CC home games.

Volleyball
Johns Hopkins went 3-0 in CC matches during the week, defeating Swarthmore in addition to two of the teams that tied for the regular-season title last year (Haverford and Muhlenberg) ... Haverford (the next opponent for the Mules) rebounded to defeat Gettysburg for the first time ever, 3-2 ... Franklin & Marshall had its 13-match winning streak snapped with losses to NYU and Cortland State.
