The Muhlenberg volleyball team fell to 11-14 (3-2 Centennial Conference) with a 3-0 loss to Haverford, one of the two teams the Mules tied for the CC regular-season title last season.

Senior Dana Ferrelli had a team-high seven kills and also recorded 10 digs to move from fourth to second place on the team’s all-time list. With 1,144 career digs, she is 69 away from all-time leader Kimberly Maurer (1995-98).

Muhlenberg is in the middle of a difficult stretch in which it plays four consecutive matches against the four other teams that finished in the top half of the CC standings last year. Having lost to Johns Hopkins and Haverford, the Mules will try to get back on track next week with matches at nationally ranked Franklin & Marshall and Gettysburg.

Junior Dawn Iberer scored two goals to lead the Muhlenberg women’s soccer team to its third straight win, 5-0 against Bryn Mawr.

The victory pushed the Mules (7-6, 4-1) above the .500 mark for the first time all season and set up their Friday night match against Centennial

Conference leader Franklin & Marshall, which improved to 9-1-1 (3-0-1) with a 3-1 win against Dickinson. Gettysburg (7-3-2, 3-1) is the only other team in the league with fewer than two losses.

Iberer’s two goals gave her 42 for her career, just two short of the school record. She also moved from ninth to sixth on the CC’s all-time goal-scoring chart.

Iberer began the scoring just 2:46 into the contest, taking a through ball from junior Courtney Levine and beating the Owl goalie. Six minutes later, sophomore Katie Macomber made a nice pass into the box to Levine, who shot the ball off a defender, then collected the rebound and fired the ball into the back of the net.

Muhlenberg substituted for most of its starters after Iberer’s second goal, in the 18th minute. The Mules capped the scoring by netting two goals a minute apart in the second half. Freshman Stacey Artman recorded her first career point on the final goal by setting up junior Dena Simons’ first goal of the season.

Muhlenberg has won 17 consecutive CC home games, and Bryn Mawr (3-9-1, 0-6) is winless in its last 36 CC matches.
