Reed Named to District Academic Team
Senior kicker Chris Reed of the Muhlenberg football team has been named to the 2002 Verizon Academic All-District II College Division Team, chosen by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
To be nominated for the Verizon Academic All-America program, a
Reed, a double major in psychology and business administration, has been one of the top kickers in Division III this season. He leads all Division III kickers in scoring with 85 points on 15 field goals (tied for the most in the country) and 40 extra points. Reed needs two three-pointers to tie the school record of 27 in a career and five to tie the Division III record of 20 in a season. He has already set school records for kickers for points in a game (18), season and career (190); PATs in a season (40) and career (115); consecutive PATs (38); and field goals in a season. Six of his 15 field goals are from 40 yards or longer, including two from 49. Reed will go on the ballot for the Academic All-America team, which is scheduled to be announced on Monday, Dec. 2. District II College Division consists of all non-Division I institutions in Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. |
