Muhlenberg opens up CC play this Saturday against Franklin & Marshall,
which split games against nationally ranked teams over the weekend. The
Diplomats defeated No. 15 Eastern Mennonite, 1-0, before losing by the
same score to No. 11 Mary Washington ... Johns Hopkins defeated Mary
Washington by a 3-2 score ... Tenth-ranked McDaniel remained the only
undefeated team in the CC with a 2-1 double-overtime victory against
previously unbeaten Roanoke.

Johns Hopkins routed 2001 CC finalist McDaniel, 8-0, in the first league
game of the season ... McDaniel rebounded to put the first blemish on
Haverfords record with a 1-1 tie ... Ursinus scored a big non-CC win
against regionally ranked DeSales, 2-1 ... The CC is 34-16-6 (.661) in
non-conference games.

Haverford pulled off the first big surprise of the CC season, defeating
Johns Hopkins, 1-0. The Fords were outshot, 29-4, but scored with 79
seconds remaining to defeat the 2001 CC finalists ... Gettysburg, ranked
17th in Division III, opened its CC season with a 5-1 win against Ursinus.

regular-season championship, both opened up the 2002 season by winning
their first two CC matches ... Franklin & Marshall improved its CC-best
record to 15-3 by winning its own tournament.

Golf Ties for Sixth at Lebanon Valley
The Muhlenberg mens golf team opened its 2002-03 season by tying for
sixth out of 17 teams at the Lebanon Valley Fall Classic.
Junior Matt Katz was one of 13 golfers to break 80 at Lebanon Country
Club, shooting a six-over-par 78. Senior Todd Scolnick was two strokes
behind with an 80.

Volleyball: Moravian 3, Muhlenberg 1. The Muhlenberg volleyball
team (8-10) dropped a non-conference match at local rival Moravian.
Freshman Julie Lauro hit for an outstanding .556 percentage, recording 18
kills with only three errors in 27 attempts.
The win gave Moravian (9-3) a 3-0 lead in the Matte Award standings for
the 2002-03 year.
