LAURO NAMED PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Freshman Julie Lauro of the Muhlenberg volleyball team has been named player of the week by the Centennial Conference.
Lauro was honored after averaging 5.00 kills and 3.57 digs to lead the
Lauro also posted 18 kills with only three errors in a loss to Moravian. For the season, she leads the Mules in kills (3.48 per game), hitting percentage (.260), digs (2.16 per game) and service aces (41) and is second with 37 blocks. With the season only half completed, Lauros total of 223 kills is already tied for 14th on the teams all-time single-season list. |
Field Hockey Extends Streak; Mens Soccer Wins 1-0
Field Hockey: Muhlenberg 3, Drew 1. The Mules (7-1) extended their winning streak to six and remained undefeated against Division III opponents. Sophomore Kristen Bruschi scored the game-winning goal by converting a penalty stroke midway through the second half for her seventh goal of the season. Junior Lauren Jacobs gave the Mules whose previous five wins were all by a one-goal margin some rare breathing room by scoring her first career goal with 12 minutes to play. Senior Josephine Fasolino made 13 saves to help Muhlenberg win despite a 13-5 deficit in penalty corners. Click here for box score. Mens Soccer: Muhlenberg 1, Misericordia 0. The first career goal for freshman Jose Ramirez was a Golden Goal, as he scored with 5:55 left in the first overtime to give Muhlenberg the win. It was the fourth 1-0 win of the season for the Mules (6-3), who are 5-0 and unscored-upon on the road. All six of Muhlenbergs wins have come by shutout. Sophomore Chris Davis had to make only one save to record his eighth shutout in 14 career starts.
Tennis Teams Go 0-2: Junior Gena Ross won in three sets at
first singles for Muhlenbergs lone point in an 8-1 womens tennis
loss at New York University. The Mule men were blanked at home by
Kutztown, 7-0.
