Men’s Soccer Ranked in Region

The Muhlenberg men’s soccer team is ranked sixth in the Mid-Atlantic Region, according to the first poll of the new season by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.

The Mules earned their ranking by winning RIT’s Tiger Invitational over the weekend, taking 1-0 victories against Macalester (ranked 16th in the national preseason poll) and host RIT (ranked seventh in the Northeast Region).

The regional poll, with national rank in parentheses:

The Muhlenberg women’s team was not ranked in the region, but two of the teams that will be at this weekend’s Kwik Goal/T.G.I.Friday’s Classic were: Gettysburg was third and Scranton tied for seventh.

Field Hockey Suffers First Loss of Season

The Muhlenberg field hockey team suffered its first loss of the season, 5-1, at the hands of 2001 Division II runner-up East Stroudsburg.

Sophomore Kristen Bruschi scored her third goal of the season off an assist from freshman Alexa Sterbinsky. The assist was Sterbinsky’s second in as many games.

Senior keeper Josephine Fasolino had 17 saves on the afternoon.
