• Volleyball: Mules blanked twice. Muhlenberg was swept by both King’s and Susquehanna on the second day of the Buttermaker Tournament. The Mules finished the tournament in third place. King’s won the championship with a perfect 4-0 record.

Senior Meaghan Billie was named to the All-Tournament Team after recording 43 kills, including the 1,000th of her career, in four tournament matches. She had 13 kills against undefeated King’s, the third-ranked team in the Mid-Atlantic Region. Click here for box scores.

• Women’s Soccer: Richard Stockton 2, Muhlenberg 0. Richard Stockton (2-0-1) scored early in each half to hand the Mules (1-3) their second straight loss in the Kwik Goal/T.G.I.Friday’s Classic. Men’s Soccer: DeSales 3, Muhlenberg 0. DeSales, 0-9-1 in 10 previous matches against Muhlenberg, spoiled the Mules’ home opener on the second day of the Kwik Goal/T.G.I.Friday’s Classic. With four field goals and six extra points, Reed set school records for points in a game (18) and a career (123) by a kicker, as well as extra points in a career (81). His four field goals tied a school record set in 1986.

The victory was the largest in a season opener for the Mules since 1924,

Reed broke the school record for career points by kicking, set by Bob Powers (1988-90), and the mark for career PATs, set by Sam Stovall (1973-76).

when they shut out East Stroudsburg Normal, 67-0. The margin of victory was the greatest since a 67-7 win against Swarthmore in 1947.

Six different players scored touchdowns for Muhlenberg, which outgained the Mariners, 347-155. For four of the players – junior Kodi Shay, senior Chris Brown, sophomore Mike Mrkobrad and freshman Michael McCurley – it was their first career touchdown.

Shay’s acrobatic catch of a 3-yard pass from senior Justin Jones gave the Mules an early 7-0 lead. After a Kings Point field goal made it 7-3, the rest of the first-half scoring came courtesy of two Reed field goals, including a 49-yarder that tied for the third-longest in school history.

Jones, who shook off an uneven start to throw for 181 yards, sandwiched a touchdown run and scoring pass to Brown around a 7-yard touchdown run by junior Matt Bernardo in the second half. Reed then kicked a 36-yard field goal to make it 37-3 and set up the Mules’ next touchdown when he sent the kickoff into the end zone, where it was fumbled and recovered by Mrkobrad.

Junior Dan Miller led the Muhlenberg defense with nine tackles, and senior Mike Koth had a pair of sacks. Senior Bo Rodrigues returned an interception 27 yards on the third play of the game to set up the first touchdown.
