Brodowski Wins Weikert Award
Junior John Brodowski of the Muhlenberg track and field team has
received the Sidney G. Weikert Award as the sophomore athlete of the year

The Weikert Award annually recognizes athletic achievement with accompanying campus contribution and strong academic record. It was established in 1973 by the Muhlenberg College Alumni Association in memory of the late Sidney Weikert, a loyal alumnus and former associate director of admissions at Muhlenberg. Brodowski had an outstanding sophomore year, setting the school record in the decathlon and becoming the first Mule decathlete ever to qualify for the NCAA Championships (he finished 13th). He was named Most Outstanding Field Performer of Centennial Conference Outdoor Championships after winning the high jump and placing second in the long jump, fifth in the javelin and seventh in the pole vault. Brodowski also won the high jump at the CC Indoor Championships. In addition to the decathlon, Brodowski also holds school records in the 110 hurdles and 4x100 relay (outdoors) and 55 hurdles, 4x200 relay and pentathlon (indoors). He was the ECAC Indoor pentathlon champion as a freshman. |
