Mens Tennis Wins Second
The Muhlenberg mens tennis team used its depth to defeat Wilkes, 5-2, in its second match of the fall. The Mules lost at No. 1 singles and had a close three-set match at No. 2, but won in straight sets down the rest of the singles ladder. Freshman Jesse Kirschenbaum breezed to a 6-0, 6-1 win at fifth singles. Junior Brad Gutwillig came back after dropping his first set to win the second in a tiebreaker and the third in a supertiebreaker. |
Senior linebacker Ryan Peer of the Muhlenberg football team
has
been named defensive player of the week by the Centennial Conference.
Peer was honored after making seven tackles (3½ for loss of yardage) in the Mules 23-3 win at Dickinson. He also had a sack, blocked a punt and forced a fumble on a kickoff return, helping Muhlenberg hold the Red Devils to 144 total yards and eight first downs. For the season, Peer is second on the Mules in total tackles (31), tackles for loss (nine) and sacks (4.5). He also is tied for the team lead in both blocked kicks and forced fumbles, with two of each. Peer is the second Muhlenberg defensive player to earn the weekly honor this year, following in the footsteps of fellow outside linebacker Dan Walker, who was cited after the Grove City game. |
