Freshman Jordon Grube of the
Muhlenberg football team has been named special teams player of
the week by the Centennial Conference.
Grube (right) provided all the scoring in the Mules 9-6 victory at Johns Hopkins, booting field goals of 42, 33 and 37 yards. He is the first Muhlenberg freshman to make three field goals in a game, and the first to kick a 40-yarder, since Tom Mulroy did both, also against Johns Hopkins, in 1983. Grube is a perfect 4-for-4 on field-goal tries since making his varsity debut last week. The Mules win, combined with Franklin & Marshalls 17-14 loss to Dickinson, set up a potential showdown for the CC title in two weeks. McDaniel is in first place with a 3-0 record, and Muhlenberg is 3-1. If both teams get past their opponents next week (Franklin & Marshall for McDaniel and Gettysburg for Muhlenberg), the winner of the Nov. 6 game in Westminster will claim the CCs automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. |
