GRUBE NAMED PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Jordon Grube Freshman Jordon Grube of the Muhlenberg football team has been named special teams player of the week by the Centennial Conference.

Grube (right) provided all the scoring in the Mules’ 9-6 victory at Johns Hopkins, booting field goals of 42, 33 and 37 yards. He is the first Muhlenberg freshman to make three field goals in a game, and the first to kick a 40-yarder, since Tom Mulroy did both, also against Johns Hopkins, in 1983.

Grube is a perfect 4-for-4 on field-goal tries since making his varsity debut last week.

The Mules’ win, combined with Franklin & Marshall’s 17-14 loss to Dickinson, set up a potential showdown for the CC title in two weeks. McDaniel is in first place with a 3-0 record, and Muhlenberg is 3-1. If both teams get past their opponents next week (Franklin & Marshall for McDaniel and Gettysburg for Muhlenberg), the winner of the Nov. 6 game in Westminster will claim the CC’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
