The Mules’ final touchdown was set up when sophomore tight end Stephen Montalto took a screen pass on third-and-6 and ran 31 yards to the 1-yard line.
Centennial Conference.

Johnson made his first start a memorable one, rushing 22 times for 131 yards with three touchdowns in the Mules’ 21-0 triumph against Gettysburg. He entered the game with 31 yards all season, but accumulated 98 yards in the first half alone en route to becoming the third Muhlenberg running back with a 100-yard game this season.

Johnson carried four times for 20 yards on the opening drive of the game, including the final 2 for the touchdown. He also was the middleman in the biggest play of the drive, a flea-flicker that resulted in a 41-yard completion from Nick Rosetti to Chris Giannini.

The Mules’ second touchdown drive was all Johnson, as he rushed for 13, 10 and 16 yards on consecutive carries after Muhlenberg took possession at the Bullet 39-yard line.

Johnson capped the scoring with a 1-yard run in the third quarter to become the first Mule to rush for three touchdowns in a game since Matt Bernardo in an NCAA playoff game against Mass.-Dartmouth in 2002.

Johnson is the first offensive player from Muhlenberg to earn the CC honor this season. The Mules have had three defensive players of the week and one special teams player of the week.
