Halfway through the 2005 season, the Muhlenberg football team is in a
familiar place: among the Division III leaders in defense.
The Mules, who led Division III in total defense last year, are ranked 13th this fall, allowing 236.0 yards per game. The squad also is tied for 19th in the country in scoring defense at 13.6 points per game. Senior linebacker Dan McCall is tied for 14th with six sacks in five games. The Centennial Conference defensive player of the week has also been named to the D3football.com team of the week for his performance against Dickinson. This weekend, McCall returns to Ursinus, where he set a school record with 5½ sacks two years ago. = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Muhlenberg leads the Centennial Conference with 12 recovered fumbles. |
