Senior linebacker Dan McCall of the Muhlenberg football team has been named defensive player of the week by the Centennial Conference.

McCall made the biggest plays for a Mule defense that shut out the Dickinson offense in a 20-2 Homecoming victory. His fourth-down sack ended the Devils’ best scoring chance and set up ’Berg’s first TD. McCall scored the second touchdown with a 55-yard fumble return. He also blocked two punts, broke up a pass and totaled six tackles.

McCall, who returned a fumble 72 yards for a touchdown at Franklin & Marshall last week, is the first Muhlenberg player to return two fumbles for touchdowns and the first to score a defensive TD in back-to-back games since 1947. His two blocked kicks tied a school and CC record.

McCall leads the CC with six sacks and three fumble recoveries. He is tied for the conference lead in forced fumbles (two) and ranks fourth in 7½ tackles for loss.
