Like Muhlenberg, Albright has nearly its entire team back. The Lions were 5-20 last year and are still very young, with one senior and two juniors. Cabrini returns only four players from last year’s 15-10 squad that made the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference playoffs. Wilkes was 4-21.

On the men’s side, Muhlenberg has not won the Scotty Wood Tournament championship since 1999, falling in the championship game four of the last five seasons. The Mules were 12-13 last season and are led by junior center Jeff Stewart, recently named a preseason All-American by

Muhlenberg’s opening-round opponent, Staten Island, came within one win of making the NCAA Tournament with a team dominated by seniors last year. The Dolphins (16-13 in 2004-05) played one of the most thrilling games in Scotty Wood Tournament history, a double-overtime win against Stevens Tech in the 2002 consolation. The other first-round game matches two up-and-coming programs in Lynchburg (11-15 for its first double-digit wins season since 1997) and Oneonta State (eight-win improvement to 12-14).
