Senior linebacker Dan McCall of the Muhlenberg football team has
been
selected to play for the American Football Coaches Associations
Division III all-star team that will represent the United States against
McCall was the Centennial Conference defensive player of the year in 2005 and a three-time all-conference selection during his career. He led the Conference in sacks (7½) and tackles for loss (14½) this season and is the Mules all-time leader with 22½ career sacks. McCall is one of 46 NCAA Division III seniors from around the country who will make up this years team. Former Central (Iowa) College Head Coach Ron Schipper will coach the team for the ninth consecutive year. The game is scheduled to kick off at 1 p.m. CST on December 17 at Estadio Chivo Cordoba in Toluca. The Aztec Bowl is the traditional season-ending game for Mexicos college football season. The game has been played 34 times since 1947 with the last eight contests featuring the United States-Mexico matchup. The United States is 7-1 in the series and defeated Mexico, 23-3, in the 2004 game in Cancun. McCall is the fourth Muhlenberg player selected for the Aztec Bowl in the last six years. The Mules were previously represented by offensive linemen John Schoeller (2000) and Chris Radomski (2003) and kicker Chris Reed (2002). |
