Tarsitano Named Player of the Week
Junior outside linebacker Tom Tarsitano of the Muhlenberg football team has been named defensive player of the week by the Centennial Conference. Tarsitano set the tone for the Mules 22-6 Homecoming win against previously undefeated Ursinus by intercepting a pass on the first play from scrimmage. He finished the game with a team-high eight tackles, three of which were behind the line of scrimmage, and also forced a third-quarter fumble that was recovered by Muhlenberg. Tarsitano was part of a total defensive effort that forced five turnovers (including an interception by sophomore Matt Rathbun, pictured below). Although the Bears gained 311 yards, 121 came on two big plays and 76 came on a fourth-quarter drive that was stopped on downs inside the 5-yard line. Tarsitano, who began the year as a reserve defensive end, leads the Mules with 41 tackles through six games.
