The Mules (6-4-2), who hadnt scored a first-half goal in their last five games, jumped on top in the first minute when freshman Eric Gonzalez fed sophomore Brendan Carroll coming down the right wing. Carroll buried the shot inside the left post for his second goal of the season. With less than 10 minutes left in the half, sophomore Billy Dalton headed in a cross from senior Alex Gildner. Muhlenberg was on the defensive for most of the second half, as the Lions (5-7-1) enjoyed a 12-4 advantage in shots. Junior Peter Bennett stopped half of the shots, including a nice sliding save in the final 10 minutes. Bennett finished with nine saves, tying a career high.

Freshman Ashley OGrady of the Muhlenberg womens soccer team was named defensive player of the week by the Centennial Conference. OGrady started at left back for a defense that allowed only five shots on goal in back-to-back Centennial shutouts of Franklin & Marshall (2-0) and Gettysburg (1-0). In the latter game, the Mules defeated a regionally ranked Bullet team whose only other home shutout losses were to teams ranked in the top 15 in Division III. Twin sister Christina OGrady received consideration for CC offensive honors after contributing to two of the three goals, scoring one and assisting on another. |
