than a month, and had never claimed a victory in Lancaster. The result not
only retired those trends, but it also gave Muhlenberg a spot in next
weeks CC playoffs.
With one game remaining in the regular season, the Mules (10-6, 5-4) are
in fifth place in the CC, one game ahead of two teams they beat
(Swarthmore and Franklin & Marshall). The playoffs begin on Wednesday,
November 1, with the fourth seed hosting the fifth seed. This is
Muhlenbergs first time in the CC playoffs since 2000.
The Mules, who were picked eighth in the CC preseason poll, jumped on top
of the Diplomats (4-12, 4-5) by scoring off a penalty corner seven minutes
into the game. Senior LisaAnn Polt finished the play for her 11th
goal of the season her seventh in CC games. She is now tied for 12th
in team history with 26 career goals.
Senior Jessica Hand added an insurance tally with her 15th career
goal late in the second half.
The win gave Muhlenberg double digits in victories for the third time in
the last five years.
