Kristen Cioeta Although the Muhlenberg women’s soccer team picked up a nice win against Lehigh Valley rival Moravian yesterday, it was something that happened in another game that was even better for the Mules.

Actually, it was nothing that happened in the other game: Ursinus and Haverford played to a scoreless tie, assuring Muhlenberg a spot in the five-team Centennial Conference playoff field.

With one game left in the regular season, the Mules (11-5, 6-3) are tied for third place in the CC. If they win Saturday at Ursinus, they can do no worse than the fourth seed, which would mean a home playoff game next Wednesday. Other combinations of results could bump Muhlenberg to a second or third seed, in which case it would avoid the first-round game and go directly to the semifinals next weekend at Johns Hopkins.

The Mules have qualified for the CC playoffs every year but one since the league went to a postseason tournament in 2001.

Co-captain Kristen Cioeta is one of eight Mule seniors who won the CC playoffs as freshmen in 2003.
