Field hockey wins home opener in double ot

The Muhlenberg field hockey team notched a 3-2 double-overtime win against Susquehanna in the Mule Classic, avenging a similar loss to the Crusaders (in penalty strokes) last year. Senior Nicki Notarianni scored the winning goal with 12:43 left in second extra session.

Cross Country Teams Open Up: The Muhlenberg cross country teams began their 2009 season by both finishing fourth at the Lehigh Valley Championships, hosted by Lehigh. The women placed first out of the four Division III schools at the meet, led by junior Kate Mahoney’s 11th-place finish (second among Division III athletes). For the men, junior Bobby Torphy was the first Division III runner across the line, coming in sixth.
