LOVIN NAMED PLAYER OF WEEK
Junior Miruna Lovin was
named
womens lacrosse player of the week by the Centennial Conference after
breaking two records in the Mules season-opening 23-9 win against
Kean. Lovin scored 9 goals, breaking the mark of eight set four times
previously, and added two assists for 11 points. The old
school record of 10 points was set by Megan DiPanni against Susquehanna in
1996.
Lovin, who received player of the week honors for the second time in her
career, is tied for fifth place on the schools all-time lists for
both goals scored (75) and points (95).

Monday, March 20
MENS GOLF finished third at York
Invitational. The Mules were second among 14 Division III schools. Matt
Diebert led the way, scoring a 3-over-par 75 to tie for sixth place, while
Matt Berman and Andy Wright both shot 79s. Click here for box score.

WOMENS TENNIS Franklin & Marshall 9,
Muhlenberg 0. The three-time defending Centennial Conference champions
continued their 32 game conference win streak by shutting out the

Wednesday, March 22
BASEBALL FDU-Madison 9, Muhlenberg 3. A four-run
rally by FDU-Madison in the third was the big inning in the Mules' second
straight loss. Senior Chuck Draper had two hits and an RBI for Muhlenberg,
while sophomore Joshua Carter singled twice, stole two bases and scored

LACROSSE Washington (Md.) 15, Muhlenberg 4.
Washington sprinted out to a 10-1 lead in the first 20 minutes and cruised
in the Centennial Conference opener for both teams. Junior Miruna Lovin

Thursday, March 23
MENS GOLF finished first at Susquehanna
Tee-Off Tournament. Muhlenberg set a school record with its first sub-300
round ever, and had four of the top five individuals, to capture its
second tournament of the school year. The Mules had a team score of 299,
easily outdistancing second-place Susquehanna by 13 strokes. Their
previous low round was 301, at the 1998 Gettysburg Fall Invitational.
Senior Matt Skilton and freshman Andy Wright tied for first place with a
4-over-par 74. Skilton earned medalist honors on a match of cards. Senior
Matt Deibert won the tiebreaker for third place with a 75, and junior Matt
Berman was a stroke back to place fifth. Click here for box score.
WOMENS TENNIS Montclair State 5, Muhlenberg
4. Montclair State captured four out of six singles matches for a
come-from-behind win. Junior Kerri Waldowski was a double winner for the
Mules, becoming the 16th player in team history with 30 career wins in
regular-season play. Senior Kristin Cahayla also won at both
singles and doubles. Waldowski and classmate Marissa Lutzer
came back from a 3-0 deficit to win 8-3 at first doubles their 12th

MENS TENNIS Muhlenberg 6, Drew 1. Freshmen
Brad Scheller and Cameron Parke continued their winning ways as the Mules
improved to 2-0 on the spring. The duo teamed up for an 8-1 win at second
doubles, and each won his singles match. Muhlenberg also received singles
wins from junior Robby Richman, freshman Matt Fleissig and junior Mike

Friday, March 24
SOFTBALL Cortland State 3, Muhlenberg 0;
Montclair State 4, Muhlenberg 3. The Mule bats woke up a little too late
on the first day of the Montclair State/William Paterson Classic.
Muhlenberg was shut out on four hits in the first game and had no hits
through the first six innings of the second game. Senior Melissa Nardi led
off the seventh with a double, however, and consecutive singles by
sophomore Angie Tyson and freshmen Missy Arnott and Meghan Woods made it
4-1. An infield error scored a second run. With two outs and the bases
loaded, freshman Kelly Berg singled to right, scoring Woods, but the tying
run was thrown out at the plate to end the game. Click here for box scores.
Saturday, March 25
SOFTBALL Ithaca 2, Muhlenberg 0; Muhlenberg 3,
Bridgewater State 2. The Mules faced two top-10 teams on the second day of
the Montclair State/William Paterson Classic and came away with one win.
Sophomore Angie Tyson pitched a five-hitter to earn her first win of the
season as Muhlenberg nipped third-ranked Bridgewater. The Mules scored all
their runs in the fourth, on back-to-back RBI singles by freshmen Missy
Arnott and Kristen Best and a bases-loaded walk to sophomore Lori
Blanchfield. In the opener, senior Heather Dreby allowed only five hits to
No. 9 Ithaca, but one was a two-run homer. Click here for box scores.
BASEBALL Gettysburg 18, Muhlenberg 2; Gettysburg
7, Muhlenberg 2. Little went right in the Mules' Centennial
Conference-opening doubleheader loss at 24th-ranked Gettysburg. Junior
Paul Luongo hit an RBI double in the first game. In the nightcap,
sophomore Joshua Carter went 3-for-4. He singled to lead off the game,
stole second and came all the way around to score on a throwing error by
the catcher, then hit a two-out RBI single in the fifth to give Muhlenberg
a 2-0 lead. But the Bullets erupted for six runs in the bottom of the

LACROSSE Muhlenberg 14, Dickinson 8. The
Muhlenberg defense stifled Dickinson in the second half en route to its
first Centennial Conference win of the season. The Mules trailed at
halftime, 7-6, but did not allow another goal until 1:33 remained. By
then, Muhlenberg had scored eight consecutive goals, including four in the
first five minutes of the second half. Junior Miruna Lovin scored 6 goals
to become the fifth player in team history to notch at least 100 career
points. She is tied for fourth all-time with 104 points. Sophomore Teresa
Lunardi scored three times in the second half, including the game-tying
and go-ahead goals, for her first career hat trick. Freshman Sarah Bowman

WOMENS TENNIS Muhlenberg 7, Western Maryland
2. Muhlenberg won for the first time ever against Western Maryland,
which finished third in the Centennial Conference last year. Juniors Kerri
Waldowski and Marissa Lutzer got the Mules off to a good start by winning
at No. 1 doubles, tying the school record with their 13th career win
together. Waldowski also won at first singles, defeating a 1999 first-team
All-CC selection in straight sets. Senior Kristin Cahayla and
freshman Shannon Rorick were double winners as well. Sophomore Kristen

MENS TENNIS Muhlenberg 6½, Western
Maryland ½.
The Mules improved to 3-0 for the first time since 1983 by winning
their Centennial Conference opener. The bottom half of the singles lineup
(freshmen Cameron Parke and Matt Fleissig and junior Mike McCormick)
remained undefeated on the season, all winning 6-0, 6-0. Parke, Fleissig,
junior Robby Richman and freshman Brad Scheller all were double winners.

TRACK & FIELD competed at Susquehanna
Invitational. A non-scoring meet held at Bucknell's Christy Mathewson
Memorial Stadium was the first outdoor competition of the season for the
Mules. Freshman Brendan Gallagher set a school record in the 10,000
meters, finishing sixth with a time of 33:12.50. Sophomore Will Elson was
seventh in the 800 meters first among Division III runners. For the
women, junior Katrina Beck took third in the high jump, and sophomore
Nkechi Ngumezi missed the school record in the 400 hurdles by 44
one-hundredths of a second. Click here for
