SOFTBALL William Paterson 4, Muhlenberg 1; William Paterson 8, Muhlenberg 0. Playing its eighth and ninth games of the season against teams that were in the NCAA Tournament last year, Muhlenberg dropped a pair. Sophomore Angie Tyson had a pair of hits and drove in the lone run in the opener. In the nightcap, freshman Kelly Berg singled with one out in the sixth to spoil a no-hit bid. BASEBALL Allentown 9, Muhlenberg 7. Two comeback attempts fell short as the Mules dropped their fifth straight game. Muhlenberg trailed 5-1, before scoring three runs in the third on a two-run single by junior Marcus Mattielli and an RBI hit by sophomore Joshua Carter. After Allentown re-extended its lead to 9-4, the Mules scored once in the eighth and twice in the ninth and had the potential tying runs in scoring position when the game ended. Junior David Wolf went 3-for-5 with a triple, while Mattielli, Carter and sophomore Benjamin Leisawitz each had a pair of hits. Click here for box score.
MEN’S TENNIS Muhlenberg 5½, Lebanon Valley 1½. The Mules swept doubles en route to capturing their eighth consecutive match — tying their longest winning streak since 1942. Freshman Cameron Parke remained perfect on the season, 5-0 at No. 4 doubles and 5-0 at No. 2 doubles with classmate Brad Scheller. Junior Robby Richman won at first singles and first doubles. Thursday, March 30
BASEBALL Wilkes 10, Muhlenberg 3. The Mules scored three runs on five hits in the second inning, but managed only two singles the rest of the way and lost for the sixth straight time. Driving in runs for Muhlenberg were senior Chuck Draper with a double and juniors Marcus Mattielli and Dylan Sapir with singles. Draper set a school record with his 98th career run scored. WOMEN’S TENNIS Dickinson 7, Muhlenberg 2. Muhlenberg's lone points in this home match came from senior Kristin Cahayla and No. 4 singles and the No. 3 doubles team of freshmen Shannon Rorick and Lindsay Goward. Click here for box score.

Friday, March 31
TRACK & FIELD competed in the Muhlenberg Invitational, the school's first home invitational meet in 56 years. Senior Kurt Kunsch highlighted four Mules who won their events by breaking his own school and Centennial Conference record in the pole vault (14-7). Senior William McElroy won the steeplechase, the first event of the day, and junior David Jones took first place in the shot put. The lone winner for the women was junior Katrina Beck, who captured the high jump. No team scores were kept in the seven-team meet. Click here for Muhlenberg highlights.

Saturday, April 1
SOFTBALL Muhlenberg 6, Gettysburg 1; Gettysburg 2, Muhlenberg 1. The Mules opened their Centennial Conference season by splitting a doubleheader with the previously unbeaten defending conference champion. In the opener, senior Heather Dreby pitched a four-hitter, allowing only one unearned run. Muhlenberg took advantage of poor Gettysburg fielding to push across six runs in the fifth, with sophomores Liz Kostelnick and Angie Tyson and freshman Meghan Woods hitting RBI singles. In the nightcap, the Mules got a break in the top of the seventh, tying the score on an illegal pitch. But the Bullets scored the winning run in the bottom of the 10th. Sophomore Angie Tyson struck out seven and did not allow an earned run in the complete-game effort. Click here for box scores.
BASEBALL Western Maryland 2, Muhlenberg 1; Muhlenberg 14, Western Maryland 6. Sophomore Joshua Carter pitched a brilliant five-hitter in the opener, then went 3-for-5 with a triple, home run, three RBI and two stolen bases in the nightcap as Muhlenberg snapped a seven-game losing streak and gained the split. Carter took a 1-0 shutout into the bottom of the seventh in the first game, but a single, triple and two-out infield error made him the hard-luck loser. Carter and senior Chuck Draper each homered as part of a seven-run fourth in Game 2. The big inning also featured two-run extra-base hits by juniors Marcus Mattielli (double) and Dylan Sapir (triple). Freshman Justin Rubenstein drove in three runs, and junior Tim Haberbusch struck out nine. Click here for box scores.
WOMEN’S GOLF finished fifth at Western Maryland Invitational. Muhlenberg had a team score of 506, good for third among Division III teams. Junior Jessica McCourt was 11th overall with a 104, which was only seven strokes behind the top Division III golfer. Sophomore Kate Stampler carded a 122. Maryland-Baltimore County won the event with a team score of 348.
LACROSSE Widener 12 Muhlenberg 10. The Mules held an 8-6 lead with 18:50 to play in the second half, but Widener scored the next five goals to take the lead for good. Freshman Lynsey Caldwell led the way for the Mules with four goals and two assists while junior Kerry Lambert also added a hat trick. Click here for box score
MEN’S TENNIS Muhlenberg 4, Franklin & Marshall 3. Junior Robby Richman's three-set win at first singles keyed Muhlenberg's big win against 1999 Centennial Conference runner-up Franklin & Marshall. The Diplomats, who had defeated the Mules 17 straight times, swept the doubles, but Muhlenberg came back with singles wins from Richman, freshmen Brad Scheller and Matt Fleissig and junior Mike McCormick. The win was the ninth straight for the Mules, whose 6-0 start matches their best since 1942. Click here for box score
