CARTER, DREBY SWEEP WEEKLY PITCHING HONORS
Muhlenberg swept the Centennial Conference pitcher of the
week honors for baseball and softball.
Sophomore Joshua Carter (right) was honored as the
baseball
pitcher of the week for
tossing a one-hitter to beat Johns Hopkins in the first game of an April
29 doubleheader. The Blue Jays came into the game with a .356 team batting
average. Carter, also the ECAC South pitcher of the week, allowed only a
sixth-inning single, which did not figure
in the scoring, and struck out five. It was the second time in three
starts that he took a no-hitter into the sixth. Senior Heather Dreby was
softball pitcher of the week after winning a pair of games vs. Swarthmore
and Ursinus, allowing just one run
and seven hits while striking out 10 in 12 innings. She pitched a two-hit
shutout in the opener vs. Swarthmore.
