BASEBALL WIN STREAK SNAPPED
The York baseball team rapped out 15 hits, seven for extra bases, en route to a 9-7 win over Muhlenberg. The loss snapped the Mules four-game winning streak. Muhlenberg (8-6) was able to keep the game close with the help of Spartan misplays. After falling behind 7-2 in the top of the fifth, the Mules combined an infield single, two walks, three wild pitches and three errors to score four runs in the bottom of the frame. Muhlenberg also scored runs on a two-out error in the first and a balk in the ninth. The only earned run came home in the third on a two-out single by junior Ben Carr. Senior Joshua Carter went 2-for-5, becoming the second player in team history with 150 career hits, with two runs scored and two stolen bases, while senior Benjamin Leisawitz also had two hits, including a double.
Junior Justin Graf dives back into first base after leading off the first inning with a walk. He reached base three times and scored two runs against York. |
