BASEBALL BLANKED IN FLORIDA OPENER

The Muhlenberg baseball team opened its Spring Break trip to Florida with a 4-0 loss to Kean.

The Mules (1-3) managed only one hit, a fifth-inning single by senior Benjamin Leisawitz, as they were shut out for the second time in three games.

Senior Joshua Carter struck out nine batters and took a shutout into the bottom of the seventh before the Cougars struck for four runs.

TRACK WRAPS UP INDOOR SEASON WITH TWO MORE RECORDS

The Muhlenberg track and field teams closed out a successful indoor season by breaking two school records at the ECAC Championships.

Junior Jason App nudged his school record in the pole vault up another quarter-inch, clearing the bar at 14 feet, 1¼ inches to finish ninth. The 4x400-meter relay team of sophomores Josh Cohen, Ben Phillips and Richard Kipp and senior Christian Sharphouse won its heat in a school-record time of 3:27.90.

The Mules set six school records at the ECAC meet and finished in the top 16 in all but two of the 11 events in which they had participants.

For the indoor season, the Muhlenberg teams combined to break 14 school records. The outdoor season begins in three weeks at DeSales.
