INJURY BUG BITES SOFTBALL TEAM AGAIN
The Muhlenberg softball team lost two games on the second day of the Montclair/Kean Classic, but it may also have lost another player to injury. The Mules (8-6) dropped the first game to Ithaca, 2-1, then suffered a 4-1 loss to Kean. In the first game, sophomore Danielle DeLucia allowed only one earned run and five hits but took the loss. Sophomores Kate Dischino and Nicole Sarno each had two of Muhlenbergs six hits, with Sarno driving in the lone run in the sixth. Starting pitcher Ally Ogden was forced from the second game after injuring her knee in the third inning. Two Mules have already suffered season-ending knee injuries this year. Senior Angela Tyson pitched the final five innings and also singled in a Muhlenberg run in the bottom of the seventh. |
WOMENS TENNIS COMPLETES PERFECT WEEK
Competing without its top player, the Muhlenberg womens tennis team
The start is the best since the 1989 team opened up 5-0 en route to the MAC North championship. The Mules are also 3-0 in the Centennial Conference for the first time ever. Sophomore Gena Ross slid up to the No. 1 spot and easily defeated her singles opponent, 6-1, 6-0. She also teamed with undefeated freshman Emily Oster for an 8-2 win at first doubles. Sophomore Sarah Niebler, playing in her hometown, won a three-set match at fourth singles. |
