Carter struck out eight, allowed three hits and walked only one to improve to 2-1 on the season. The Cardinals got only two runners past first base against Carter and freshmen Peter Lankarge and David Maffei. The offense, which has been no-hit once and one-hit once already this season, erupted for season highs in runs and hits (14), scoring three runs in each of four innings. The final score nearly matched last years 15-0 whitewash of Washington, which was the Mules biggest shutout win since 1986. The top two hitters in the Muhlenberg (5-5) lineup, juniors Justin Graf and Justin Rubenstein, each went 2-for-3 with three runs scored and two stolen bases. Junior Ben Carr drove in the first two runs with a first-inning single and added another RBI single in the sixth. Senior Mike Morris blasted his first home run of the season in the eighth. |
