Junior Kevin Komeshok pitched out of a bases-loaded jam in the eighth to
earn his fourth save of the season as the Muhlenberg baseball team
finished its best Spring Break trip ever with a 5-3 win against Wesleyan
The Mules (7-5) went 6-3 in Florida, winning four of their last five games. Komeshok saved three of the games and was the winning pitcher in one other. Muhlenberg broke a 2-2 tie by scoring two runs in the sixth. Junior Ben Carr was hit by a pitch on an 0-2 count to lead off the inning. After a walk, senior Mike Morris doubled home Carr. Sophomore Adam Sadler delivered a sacrifice fly for the second run. The Mules extended their lead to 5-2 in the eighth when senior Benjamin Leisawitz led off with a double, went to third on Morris groundout to second and scored on a sacrifice fly by junior Steve Rohn. Sophomore Chris OConnor, who allowed no earned runs and only six hits in the first seven innings, got the first two batters out in the bottom of the eighth, but then four straight Cardinals reached base, cutting the lead to 5-3. Komeshok came on with the bases loaded and got the third out on a grounder, then recorded a strikeout with the potential tying runs on base in the ninth to end the game. The Mules, who are two games over .500 for the first time since 1992, are scheduled to begin the Northern portion of their schedule with three straight home games next week, the first against Misericordia on Thursday. |
