• Softball: Muhlenberg 6, Washington 1; Muhlenberg 3, Washington 1. Junior Meghan Woods went 5-for-5 and reached base in all eight plate appearances as Muhlenberg (18-10, 10-2) extended its Centennial Conference winning streak to 10 with the sweep. Woods was 2-for-2 with a first-inning RBI double in the first game to support the seven-hit pitching of sophomore Danielle DeLucia. Sophomore Kate Dischino was 2-for-4 with a double.

In the second game, senior Angela Tyson tossed a three-hitter and went 2-for-3 with an RBI single. Freshman Lisa Gerbino had a two-run single to cap the three-run second inning. The sweep enabled the Mules to keep pace with Gettysburg and Western Maryland, both of whom moved to 8-0 in the CC with sweeps of their own.

• Women’s Tennis: Muhlenberg 8, Western Maryland 1. The Mules dropped only six games in the six singles matches to breeze to their ninth win of the season. Muhlenberg (9-1, 6-1) is tied in the loss column for first place in the CC with Washington, a 5-4 winner over Franklin & Marshall. Sophomores Sarah Niebler and Megan Schreiber recorded 6-0, 6-0 wins at fifth and sixth singles, respectively. Click here for box score.

• Men’s Tennis: Muhlenberg 7, Western Maryland 0. The Mules (8-2, 4-1) won all eight contested matches to defeat Western Maryland for the 18th straight year. Freshman Jeff Kraft remained undefeated with a 6-1, 6-0 win at third singles. He also combined with junior Cameron Parke for an 8-0 victory at No. 2 doubles. Freshman Seena Shekari prevailed in three sets at sixth singles for his first career win. Click here for box score.

The Muhlenberg track and field teams qualified seven athletes for the ECAC Championships at Moravian’s Greyhound Invitational.

Senior Nancy Kegelman qualified in the javelin while breaking the school record of 120 feet, 11 inches, she set last year. Her throw of 121-5 was good for third place.

Also qualifying for the women were freshman Ashlie Hankee in the 100 high hurdles and sophomore Stephanie Melka in the 10,000 meters.

Junior Brendan Gallagher qualified in the 10,000 for the men’s team, but the news was mixed for him as he also had one of his school records broken. Sophomore Rob Uniszkiewicz won the 5,000 meters in 15:37.00, chopping 1.28 seconds off the mark set by Gallagher last year.

Sophomores Richard Kipp and Brian Cash both qualified in the 800 meters, while sophomore Josh Cohen made the cut in the 400. Cohen also ran on the 4x100-meter relay team, along with junior Jim McCoy, sophomore Matt Bernardo and senior Christian Sharphouse, that set a school record with a time of 44.19 seconds.

Junior Jason App won the pole vault at 13-6, and senior Jim Hayes and sophomore Randy Holak placed second and third, respectively, in the javelin.

• Lacrosse: Swarthmore 10, Muhlenberg 5. Senior Teresa Lunardi scored her 100th career point, becoming the seventh player in team history and the second this year to reach the century mark, but Muhlenberg (3-9, 1-6) dropped its fourth straight. Lunardi’s hat trick was her seventh of the season. Freshman Diana Bleakley made 19 saves to become the second Mule to record 200 in a season. Senior Joshua Carter pitched what is believed to be the first no-hitter in program history as the Muhlenberg baseball team won the first game of a Centennial Conference doubleheader at

Carter’s no-hitter moved him into a tie for fifth place with 13 career wins. He is also sixth with 138 strikeouts.

Western Maryland, 4-0. The Green Terror came back to capture the nightcap, 12-6, snapping the Mules’ five-game winning streak.

Carter allowed only five baserunners, all on walks, and struck out eight in his first career complete-game shutout. Only two runners got past first base. He walked the bases loaded in the fifth, but got Western Maryland’s leadoff hitter out on a called third strike to end the inning.

“I felt really good warming up in the bullpen, but when I got on the mound I didn’t feel like I had good command of my pitches,” said Carter. “I just made the pitches I needed to get out of jams.”

The closest the Green Terror came to a hit came with two out in the bottom of the sixth, when Todd Huber hit a chopper over the mound that tipped off Carter’s glove. Senior shortstop Mike Morris raced behind second to field the ball, spun around and fired to first, where senior Benjamin Leisawitz picked the ball to get Huber by a step.

“I had absolutely no clue [about the no-hitter] at all,” said Carter, who is the first Muhlenberg pitcher since 1986 to win six games in a season.

Carter also drove in the first run of the game with a two-out double in the third. Junior Ben Carr followed with a double, and Leisawitz capped the inning with his first home run of the season.

Western Maryland (13-10, 5-7) made up for its lack of hitting in Game 1 by scoring eight runs in the first inning of the nightcap. Junior Justin Graf hit a two-run opposite-field homer in the sixth for the Mules.

With six games left in the CC season, Muhlenberg (17-12, 8-4) is in fourth place, three games ahead of Western Maryland, Haverford and Dickinson. The top four teams qualify for the league’s first tournament.
