![]() A weekly look at whats going on in the Centennial Conference:
In womens tennis, Washington (7-1) and Muhlenberg (6-1) are the only teams with one CC loss. The Shorewomen close out with Bryn Mawr (Wednesday) and Dickinson (Saturday), while the Mules have Bryn Mawr (Tuesday), Haverford (Wednesday) and Dickinson (next Wednesday). Should the teams remain tied, they would be declared co-champions ... In mens tennis, Haverford took a big step in the race to finish second behind Washington with a 4-3 win against Johns Hopkins (3-2) on Saturday. The Fords (5-1) play at Muhlenberg (4-1) on Tuesday. The Mules have three difficult matches left, with Johns Hopkins (away on Saturday) and Washintgton home next Monday.
Ursinus (7-0) clinched a playoff berth with a 25-5 win against Dickinson, while Washington (6-2) scored a big win by toppling Franklin & Marshall (2-3) in overtime. Gettysburg (6-1) knocked off Bryn Mawr, 22-5. Western Maryland (3-2) moved into fourth place with a 24-11 win against Haverford. |
WOODS, DeLUCIA, CARTER EARN CC HONORS
Muhlenberg athletes Meghan Woods, Danielle DeLucia and Joshua Carter have been honored by the Centennial Conference.
Woods, a junior shortstop, was named softball player of
For the season, Woods leads the Mules with a .346 batting average, seven doubles, two triples, 21 RBI and a .593 slugging percentage.
DeLucia, a sophomore, was named softball pitcher of
The 2001 CC pitcher of the year, DeLucia is 9-5 with a 1.43 ERA and 70 strikeouts in 88 innings while holding opponents to a .207 batting average. She has allowed one earned run or fewer in each of her last nine starts.
Carter, a senior pitcher, was named baseball pitcher of the week for
the Carter is 6-2 with a 2.80 ERA for the season and is hitting a team-leading .377 with 16 RBI. He leads the CC in pitching wins and strikeouts (64 in 61 innings) as well as stolen bases (17). The first Mule pitcher since 1986 to win six games in a season, Carter needs nine strikeouts to break the school record of 72 in a season and two hits to become the programs all-time leader. |
