Softball
Although Ursinus handed Western Maryland its first CC loss on Sunday, the Green Terror still has the inside track on hosting this weekend’s CC playoffs. Gettysburg needs to sweep Tuesday’s doubleheader at Western Maryland to claim hosting rights. Muhlenberg, which plays Ursinus on Tuesday, could be the second, third or fourth seed. Last year, the Mules won the tournament as the third seed.

Baseball
The four playoff teams are set and the games this week will determined the seedings. Johns Hopkins has a busy week, with a single game Monday at Gettysburg, a home doubleheader Tuesday against Ursinus and a road twinbill Saturday at Muhlenberg. F&M finishes at Dickinson, while Ursinus hosts Western Maryland. The Mules will be either the third or fourth seed.

Women’s Tennis
Washington clinched a share of the CC championship with a 9-0 shutout of Dickinson on Saturday. The Mules will tie the Shorewomen for the title if they can defeat Dickinson on Wednesday. Neither school had won a CC title in women’s tennis prior to this season.

Women’s Lacrosse

Ursinus (9-0), Gettysburg (8-1) and Washington (7-2) have clinched the top three seeds for this weekend’s CC playoffs. Franklin & Marshall (5-3), Western Maryland (4-3) and Swarthmore (3-4) are alive for the fourth. Western Maryland hosts the other two teams on Tuesday (F&M) and Wednesday (Swarthmore).

Men’s Golf Third at F&M: In its best showing of the season, the Muhlenberg men’s golf team finished third out of 11 teams at the Franklin & Marshall Invitational. The Mules finished three strokes behind The College of New Jersey and 11 behind Gettysburg while defeating four other Centennial Conference teams (F&M, Swarthmore, Dickinson and Ursinus. Senior Rich Jacobs and sophomore Matt Katz tied for eighth, each shooting an 80. Click here for box score.

Men’s Tennis Postponed: The scheduled men’s tennis match against defending CC champion Washington was rained out.

LESKO MAKES USBL SQUAD

Senior Mark Lesko, who recently finished his All-America career with the Muhlenberg basketball team, has made the roster of the Pennsylvania Valley Dawgs of the United States Basketball League.

As reported in The Morning Call on Sunday, Lesko succeeded in his tryout after being selected in the seventh round of the USBL draft on April 9.

In the article, Darryl Dawkins, the Valley Dawgs’ head coach, was quoted as saying, “He has a great attitude ... Until somebody comes in here and beats him out, it’s his job.”

The Valley Dawgs are the defending USBL champions. Last year, Minnesota Vikings receiver Randy Moss played for the team.

Lesko didn’t travel to Florida over the weekend for the Valley Dawgs’ first two games of the season, but is expected to make his professional debut at Brooklyn on Friday, April 27. His home debut will be the following Friday, May 3. The Valley Dawgs play at Lehigh’s Stabler Arena.
