![]() A weekly look at whats going on in the Centennial Conference:
Johns Hopkins breezed past Hunter, 75-50, in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, but lost in the second round to Messiah, 86-60. Kings and Southern Maine, two teams that Muhlenberg played during the season, advanced to the Sweet 16 ... In the ECAC Tournament, Swarthmore upset top seed and host Moravian in the semifinals before dropping a 71-66 decision to Lebanon Valley in the championship game.
After receiving a first-round bye, Ursinus fell to Scranton, 77-75, in the second round of the NCAA Tournament ... Franklin & Marshall won the ECAC championship for the second straight year, defeating DeSales in the title game by a score of 70-60. |
WESTENDORF NAMED CO-PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Freshman John Westendorf of the
Westendorf was honored after leading Muhlenberg to wins in its first two varsity games since 1980 by tallying 12 goals and two assists. He tied a school record with seven goals in a 14-6 win against Centenary, and added five more as the Mules set team records for goals and margin of victory by defeating SUNY Farmingdale, 21-4. Westendorf shared the honor with Jon Singer of Franklin & Marshall, who had four goals and 10 assists in two games. |
